We've used our Schuitemaker for a couple cuttings now.

I would tarp the pile.

We bought it strictly because of labour. Having 4 or more people for chopping was harder and harder to do.

It needs a tractor with power beyond, return, and load sense remotes. Maybe you run new enough tractors that already have those? Or you have to add them.

We were told that the longer length of cut compared to a real chopper was a deal breaker in many cases. Way harder to push and pack as well as dig out to feed. We used a spike push rack that worked very well and feeding out is going well too. A couple people who do custom work with them say that is the sole reason it's hard to gain customers with them. So far, I don't hate life. Not sure how a blade will work for you.

There's 42 reversible knives. Only takes a few minutes to remove or install. We sharpen on a belt sander. Works ok. Not as fast as pushing a button to sharpen as we were used to. Should get a second set so we can make it through a cutting by only flipping or changing and not having to sharpen.

All functions are run through the monitor. Moving the bed chain back while filling the box is done by tapping the joystick and there's different speeds for it. You can tell when to move the chain back by either engine load or grass spills out the top. When the box is full, you can't move it back further, that's automatic, it might sense tailgate pressure to know when it's full.

Steering is follow steering. It follows when driving forward and you lock it with the remote to back up.

Hope that helps.

Do you have a lot of rocks in your fields? We have but I only sharpen the knives a few times a year, knives protection works pretty good on our Pottinger.
Our green chop tractor doesn't have power beyond or load sensing and it works but would be nice to have.
Our wagon has automatic loading so the chain moves on his own till it's full.
We have a silage spreader behind the pack tractor, a blade doesn't work that well.
