| It's all timing; otherwise there is no adjustment for the stuffer. What you may find is that if there's enough wear in the assembly is that you can pull the fingers up so they make contact or they'll slap the plunger while running when you aren't feeding hay. As long as they don't hit while loaded, it'll ride. If I recall right, you'll need to retard the fingers so they start to pull back out of the chamber before the plunger gets too far back. The 4650 book should be close enough to follow for your timing instructions.
You do need the wrappers. Not only do they help keep crap from wrapping up on the stuffer crank, but they also form the shape of the chamber. I highly recommend you fix it. | |
