Subject: Any opinions or advice on the advantage of these 2 marketing strategies?

WC Indiana

I have traditionally waited until we get to these price levels and bought puts to cover a lot of the crop and often sell a call to help finance it.

A friend of mine priced about 25% of corn and beans by straight hedges and buying a call to not lose all the possible upside.

1. When would you use one strategy over the other?
2. What are the advantages or disadvantages of each strategy?
