Subject: RE: New 1000-1100 bu grain carts

NWIL
I've been around a farm/custom harvester that has both, the J&M and Brent Avalanche. Both pulled by large frame STXs, both three years old. Tires are 900s on each.

Overall, they like the J&M better of the two. They've had to do quite a bit of welding on the Brent the last two years while the other just keeps going. They like where the grain discharges on the corner auger better over the dual auger. The dual auger has taken quite a bit more to maintain with the extra bearings, augers, and such. The Brent has the hydraulic auger tilt, its been a blessing and curse for them. Driver that knows what he's doing can make use of it for placing loads nicely, but they've also had a couple instances of the auger getting dropped down onto a trailer by a rookie (no major damage). Unloading speed is virtually the same for each.

One thing that is quickly apparent, the big floater tires are not the best option with this size cart. All that air just gets the whole works to bouncing too easily. Capacity of them is not the best, they usually blow two tires a year. Row crop duals would be the best.
