How tight do you have the tighteners? Are they on the loose side of the chain or on the tight side? Ours seem to last ok but they are not extremely tight and they are on the loose side of the chain.

It would be easy to build a roller tightener, just get some of the smooth poly rollers like is used in the row units.

We have had what Bobby is describing, worked good except for notilling into corn stalks.

We now use the standard steel pipe tighteners but only have chains on the wing wheels to avoid having chains running down the road.
