Subject: RE: High hour combines

My situation. Running a late model 1660 with 3900 hours. Well maintained, but wanted more capacity as I am basically a one man show. Most 66 and 88 series machines had more hours on than mine. I bought a 2008 Lexion 570R with 1000 sep hours, through the Claas reconditioning program for $30 to $40K less than a comparibly houred 88 series combine. I am lucky as I have good dealership support for about any brand you want here in west central IA. I did go to central NB for an 8 row corn head, but found a like new 30 ft platform only 30 miles away. Yes, I realize resale might not be what a red one is, but this will more than likely be my last combine purchase. I did buy it right after harvest when there were some great deals out there. No doubt that helped my situation a lot! (I just have to look at it sitting in the shed for 8 months before I can use it! LOL)
