Subject: Re: 08 Cargill Specialty Oil Canola Growers ? ?

Near-north Ontario, French River
Question for ya'll........ and I ask this totally out of the blue as I have no idea how canola pricing works in your area. Do you truly feel you are receiving a premium for your specialty canola or is cargill in fact discounting the generic ( for lack of better word) canola to make it appear as though you are getting a premium. Reason I asked is I have heard through the grapevine that alot of these specialtly oil soybeans coming down the pipe we be purchased this way. The processors of the specialty beans are also the processor for the common crushers. Its been said they will NOT pay a premium for special oil beans, as the oil buyers refuse to pay one . To get around it they will simply drop the basis on crushers to make it appear as though the IP's pay a premium... if that makes any sense at all.
