If you decide to replant, prepare as usual, cover with straw or mulch as mentioned above. Water, then cover with tarp,plastic, I've used hay stack cover. Now watch closely! 2-3 days! At first sign of grass sprouts remove cover.
This speeds up grass germination and saves a lot of watering.
