Southeast SD | The ones I've had leaking like that we've been able to disassemble the hydrant handle and take that nut off that the rod goes through, inside of there there's either an O-ring or a packing that you can get to replace it. Most farm stores or places that sell hydrants have both. The tough part is usually getting the bolts/nuts loosened up because most are rusty looking like yours in the pics. I guess I'm assuming that it's only leaking like that when the hydrant is turned on right? Not with it off? Might want to turn your water off before doing this so it doesn't shoot the center rod up and out of the hydrant and get you soaked.
Otherwise call me and I'll come dig it up and replace it with a new one :) | |
