SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ | Actually Jim N recomendations vary according to N costs and the price of corn. If corn is 7$ vs 4$ it makes a BIG difference in the amount of N needed for economical return. My N costs this fall were 725$ per ton. I had paid for this in april of last yr. Currently the price is 1000$ a ton. So economically I can apply more N than the farmer who didn't lock in his N early. Same goes if I locked in corn at a higher price VS a farmer that hasn't sold any new crop corn this last spring,
So to me the .6 .1 or 1.20 recs doesn't hold water for me. Every situation is different acording to price of N and price of corn. Ia state has a sliding scale showing these recs according to prices. | |
