Western Illinois | Corn crop has decent potential at this point. Anywhere from waist high to just short of tasseling. Wind laid about half of the corn over mid week. It has came back up mostly, but I'm sure will be a blast harvesting. Rains totaling for the last 5-6 days from 3/4 of inch up to almost 4 inches have helped keep the crop going for now. Another timely rain around July 1st will be a boost for pollination. Potential for corn is average to well above average at this point. Obviously a couple more months of weather will determine what we end up with.
Early beans struggled out of the ground and had to be replanted on some places. Replant beans look really good but just emerged last week, so have a long way to go. Beans are made in August, so a lot of time left to make or break them. | |
