It may work if we would have enough heat this fall. I know we planted a haying and grazing sorghum one year and hayed it, then just let it regrow for grazing and believe it or not, it got up thigh to waist high in spots.
If you tried it, I wouldn't be counting on the hay...................i would be thinking of it as more of an experiment.
