It is just a 1/2" black pipe with a 5/8" X 11 thread 1" bolt welded on top with a 1/8" X 4" square plate that I cut the corners in 1/4" hammered the edges to a 45 degree angle and welded the corners so it could slide. If I could find a hallow metal ball and cut it in half, it would work better. The square piece still wants to drag on weeds.

I add a nut to the bolt to tighten the globe on with and the total length is the same as the antenna on top of the gator.

The gator does 45mph, which is fast enough and the ride is good in the field. I normally do topo mapping around 20 mph. If the vehicle is not bouncing all over, you are doing good. If you are bouncing up and down or the shocks are reacting all the time, your survey reflects it.
