West Central Illinois | I love cover crops, but I also love the idea of keeping harmful fertilizers in one spot and being able to reduce fertilizer applied quite a bit. And planting on a strip I would lower my population for planting. I would also let my soybeans emerge and grow for maybe two weeks before killing the cover crop, fields would be extremely clean. I also know in my area narrow beans yield more than 30s. So altogether twin row planting on a strip would be perfect. I know very little of twin row planting as it is not popular in my area. is it usually 8'' spacing? if thats the case I might have a hard time keeping both rows on the strip. Would I also find cover crop wrapping on the twin rows when I got off the strip? In theory it would be a perfect system for my operation, but theory and execution are two totally different things i understand.
