Subject: RE: Twin Row Beans on Strip Till and Cover Crops

Stockbridge, MI
I'm running MAP and potash in the Montag, soil sampling to some extent every other year. Try to do grids every 4-6 years, with low intensity zones every two years between the years of grid sampling. So the rates are all over the board in the strip. I'm getting things to the point where it's a lot of maintenance or draw down rates though. On the planter, I'm running around 70 lb/ac of 6-24-24 for soybeans. On corn, I'm putting down 110 lb of 50% AMS, 25% urea, 25% MAP. Hopefully thats enough N to overcome tie-up from the covers. For the remainder for the N, I'm sidedressing urea through the Montag using a 8 row (9 coulter) applicator. That rig sure seems to run down a lot of corn on the headlands (duals still on tractor), so I'd like to tweak that system somehow.
