I take a empty 30 gal chemical drum and cut it about one inch from the top. Wash it very good and make sur it is dry,
Put my leftover seed in that then duck tape it back together label the top and store in the barn. Never had an issue with germ or mice.

I also have just put the un opened bag in as well. The key is Tape it good so nothing can get in
