midatlantic | I really think the first pictures will do 2 ton of dry matter to the acre. It will test a lot higher in protein now than in soft dough stage. It all depends what you're feeding. For dairy cows I like it made in the boot stage. I really have no experience with taking it to soft dough. I have had some tritcale mixed with ryegrass that yielded right at 3.5 ton of drymatter to the acre cut at the boot stage. One of the keys as you've seen is plant it early in the fall. I wouldn't try to plant beans in that without harvesting it. Thats a lot of feed there. Curious if it had any fertilizer? If no fertilizer that is a thick stand. | |
