Ive built quite a few websites for side businesses(like this ) and did some advertising, here are some numbers for when you get there or are curious to see if its effective being online or not.

Google Advertising | We spent $22 where 5,574 people saw our ad and 100 people visited the website because of it. (not fantastic, but its a very niche business, so we were happy with it)
Facebook Advertising |We spent $32.00 where 4,662 people saw our ad. Facebook has a ton of metrics(people looking at pictures, viewing the page, ..tons) that are useful for business. Facebook was most effective for there business.
Summary | advertisements translated into $500 dollars worth of business because we spent $54.00 over 2 weeks. Not bad for an initial ad campaign. The costs with advertising are all different, the cost is based around so many factors like (audience size, cost per click, ...etc) it can get confusing so this is just a guide, your experience can/will vary. you can email me if you need guidance have specific questions , happy to help
