The circuit breakers protect the whole electrical system. Used to be a positive ground 12 volt half on one and a negative ground 12 volt half on the other before it was converted. On the 12 volt conversion they should both be fed from BAT positive at the top stud on the starter solenoid.
Are you sure the shop knew the starter was for a 12 volt conversion not an original 24 volt?
