It didn't seem too logical to me, but who knows. I run 4" twist shovels on the chisel, so it throws some dirt. But im with you guys, I don't think that it would throw fert down to the bottom of the shank . Even if it did, my shanks are far enough apart they leave a solid space between them. So the fert would alternate between maybe 8" deep and maybe 2" deep.
