runningbehind - 4/24/2017 22:20 I've done it two ways, went down a foot dropped in a couple used seed totes, nice gravel back over the top. Also went down 3', 2' of 6-8" rock then gravel. Should have just pattern tiled the yard as those spots are good, still ha ve water oozing up from a rotating series of spots around the patches. No place big enough to lose a truck though.

Tile is best, if possible . . .

If not, generally, dig out area twice as big as the boil. Sometimes, a post hole auger w/36in bit. Drill down 48-60 inchs (at least here, to get below frost). Fill with crush 1 1/2 minus and pack, then fill the last foot with good crush gravel (class 1 or modified class 5 here). It's the water trapped in the frost that cause the soil to "boil" . . . . .
