With row shut off or manual if Autosteer one option is to plant the outer headland row and finish up planting the inside rows of headlands at the end if I was planting with a track tractor like shown. I do that stripping with our 8310RT to help reduce the berm issue. Also skip row is another method to reduce it and lets me leave the field in the same as I entered it with a reduced turning radius. Now I have 25" tracks with the really tall lugs which if I ordered it all over again we would change the depth and pattern of the tracks to reduce this issue. I will say this thing doesn't get stuck and other than the berm is a very smooth tractor in the fields and stripping at high speed isn't a problem even with Montag putting fert down staying ahead of the high speed planter.

Our planter tractor is wheeled and we continue to stay with wheeled tractor because of this issue. Not much weight on a planter tractor anyways and new one will have 1/2 the wheel weights as well. We are 12 row planter and strip till rig.

gotta question trackman

a guy i work for plants with a tracked JD 8XXX tracked tractor and 16 row planter, on the turn rows when he turns around the tracks just plow up the dirt several inches deep in a big old rainbow pattern all the way around, and at least all of the folks i know plant turn rows first so they know where to shut the planter on and off, but the problem is our stand counts on the turn rows are drastically less and we cant figure out how to fix this?
