Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS | Very sad, indeed. My condolences to the family. We used to rent some land that we had to cross a set of tracks to get to. It was on a county gravel road so there were no crossing guards or anything other than the typical signage. If the train was going south it was doing downhill on a slight grade but they could still be going pretty fast for a freight train. There was a curve in the tracks just before the crossing so you couldn't see very far in that direction. I once pulled up to the crossing, looked both ways and started to let out the clutch when a train came barreling around that curve with horns blasting. Almost wet myself. That thing looked YYuuuuugggggeeee from the seat of that old 4010. |
