Subject: going to monitor downforce this year, what am i looking for?

East Central, Nebraska
i am going to monitor 4 rows of downforce on my kinze 16 row planter this year. have no experience with what i am looking for here. i see when i drop the planter in the ground the weight comes up, what am i looking for in regards to a nice consistent downforce? the fact that i will have little to no control will likely drive me nuts but maybe i can make some slight changes and slow down if need be to keep the row unit in the ground. for years i have kept downforce at max, from talking to people sounds like my 1.8 bushel boxes should actually be getting some lift most of the time.

i will likely agree here in a couple weeks that i need to take it all the way, this year it wasnt in the budget. now i just need to understand what i am looking for. Agleader system if that makes any difference.

thanks.
