Thumb of Michigan
We used to have a favorite Pioneer variety that we were able to plant for a lot of years. 3573 Pioneer . It was never number one in our plot, but NEVER worse than 3rd, no matter what other varieties were in the plot. Where it really came through for us was in high corn borer years. I found out after a few years from someone at Pioneer that the reason was that that variety had a high level of dimboa.

Anyway, that variety was our favorite for a long time, even if it was a tad long for us. Maybe other hybrids had it as well, but we never figured out which ones.

Now, I wouldn't know what dimboa is or looks like if I had a glass full of it in front of me. This was before any GMO seed was available, so we thought it was a pretty valuable trait that Pioneer should have bred into every variety. But they went another way I guess.
