Don't know. I am a Trimble dealer. I know unless you are porting out the GPS to another system (i.e. Ag Leader/Trimble etc) the serial stuff is not used. It should be a matter of changing your correction to RTK/SF2 fallback, setting the frequency and go. that is the down and dirty as I remember it.
