DG has had more experience with this. I think there are bolts around the perimeter of the cover though. It's pretty obvious once you get into it though. I think the problem with the motor is that the brushes are too soft. The inside of the blower is always covered with a fine, black dust. I think it comes from the commutator grinding the brushes up.
