Yorkshire UK | I really wouldn't worry, it works at least as well as any alternative. Very few people go on there to comment if everything works as expected - which it does for the great majority. You'll need to install the DJI app to register it in any case,. Only the DJI App (or PC based Assistant) can do the firmware updates and quite a few settings aren't available at all in alternative apps. The main alternative is Litchi, it's not exactly cheap and has a few glitches too.
The problem with Android is the huge range of different builds some are specific to particular phonnes e.g. Samsung. It's easier on iOS from that point of view and they can easily test it works with every device they say is compatible. I only have Android phone and tablets here and not had slighest problem, though it's annoying when interesting new features are often implemented later in the Android version
