If the seed bed is too soft the soil will be pushed by the front roller of a Brillion Cultapacker Seeder and that can cause problems. And if you machine is like mine, wide open is about 18 lbs per acre, using the small seed box. Now I did put a doubler gear on my machine so at about half open is where I get 20 lbs/A seeding rate.
Anybody have a dummies guide to growing alfalfa.
