Subject: Re: I planted my cover crop rye today

NE Iowa
This is my first year with winter rye, seeded it on my choped corn fields 2 weeks ago. It is up and growing, but what will be more value to me, cut it as hay in May, chop it in June or just use it as "green manure"? We have dairy and beef so I imagine haying it or chopping would be most beneficial, any ideas?
