What I was looking for is this - In my daily list of parts, I needed part numbers "flagged" that required additional action - and the list on Sheet 2 was a list of those parts.
This is how I accomplished that...
I had to get the "Action parts list" onto Sheet 1 for this to work. I highlighted the range of cells that I enter the daily list in and used conditional formating with the following formula: =COUNTIF(PARTSLIST, A2)=1 What this does is check the PARTSLIST range for the part # that I just entered. (A2 is the first cell in the daily parts entry range) If it exists in the list, I have it set to change cell background to Yellow, otherwise no formatting. Once I get the daily list entered, I have a quick, easy way to identify the parts which require additional action - those highlighted in yellow.
I absolutely LOVE Excel - well, I use OpenOffice, but they work almost identically. VERY powerful and very few things a person can't make it do if you want to take the time to learn the formulas. | |
