Iowa | I would look in the battery box for any weather-proof fuses holders. If you find some zip-tied to the battery cables, then cut the zip-ties(if neccessary) and check those fuses. These electronic engines (in the last ten years ,or so) required 12 Volts DC constantly(Even with the key shutoff). If you don't have the constant 12 volts DC, then they won't start. Seems like most truck manufacturers put these "constant" 12 volt fuses IN or NEAR the batteries.(There was no reason to run the wires up into the cab at the normal fuse box area). Some trucks also run the 12 volts thru a relay for the key switch power (relay get weak or corroded and won't supply enough voltage during cranking to "power" the ECM). Also, REALLY, REALLY clean those battery connections AND any little wires attached to the pos or neg posts, too. Does the truck have "battery disconnect" inside the cab on the floor board? I have seen where only 1 of 2 switches were turned on and the engine would crank BUT not start. | |
