Don't know much about the 2188 but we ran a CTS II grain model for 10 years.  Both combines compare pretty evenly in the capacity department.  The grain quality is going to be excellent with the CTS.  Even some people from the red dealers were impressed.  You might want to check and see how much hp the CTS has.  JD upped the ponies to 275 hp going to the CTS II.  I did hear some of the late CTSs had more hp but I'm not sure. Also check and see if the beater wings have been replaced recently.  They need to be in very good shape for good feeding because the material goes over the beater.  If all you grow is wheat and barley the CTS works great.  Not so great in canola and peas.
