Wheat will be cheaper, but shares some common diseases with corn. Cereal rye will give more and deeper roots, can be seeded later than wheat, and gives more surface armor to help with soil erosion and reduce winter annuals, but cost more and needs more N and S with the planter to offset all the N tied up when it is terminated.
