Narrow road purpose is to canopy quicker. If you diagonal with a 3o in planter you still have 30 in gaps between rows. Not much advantage.
In Ohio many tried to diagonal wheat with 15 in planters. Now the most common plastics is to plant wheat with one pass using 15 in planter. My guess the same situation.
