Subject: MTZ 1220 plow report

Newfane NY
Pulling a 5 bottom Kverneland plow [plough] set at 18" going 10" deep in soybeans with killed rye. Pulled it good and driver liked the tractor when he got done with 2 days of plowing. My fuel use figured at 4 gal per hour from warm up to cool down. I am satisfied with the fuel usage.
If I had a lot of plowing to do I would load rear tires as, IIRC, our 1967 IH 806 weighed about 14,000 lbs with loaded tires and 300 lbs on each rear wheel. This MTZ had no problem keeping the front end down. It also has really good low rpm torque as he could pull it down to 1400 and it had now problem getting back to 2200 rpm under load. He did comment it seemed to be the happiest at 1800 rpm.

I will move my postings to the Cafe as here it gets buried quickly.
As I said before, today's MTZ is not yesterday's Belarus.
