Scotland
Matts,
We were getting on well until last Friday (18/8) when we had 94mm of rain in 8 hours.
Before that we had a lot of grain cut at 14-16%MC which is really something for up here. We cut some more wheat yesterday and it was at 21%MC. Yields have been quite poor because it was too dry in June and July with 17mm in June and only 9mm in July. Parts of fields where there has been moisture are up to 11-12 t/hectare but the higher/drier/lighter areas are down to 8t/ha. we are probably going to struggle to average 9 over all of the wheat. We still have 700 acres of winter wheat and 450 of spring wheat to go then there are the potatoes after that.
The rain has doen the soil the world of good though, the canola may actually grow now!
