I used to get free hats and other promotional items from just about any farm equipment company I could. Massey and Deere were more generous than anyone else, at least for me they were. This was before AGCO sunk their teeth into Massey.

A cousin was dying of cancer and was told by her doctor that she had maybe only weeks to live. Her dad was deceased, but had owned a good sized excavating company in another state. She had fond memories of him as well as pics operating the CAT equipment. So, I tried to get CAT to at least send her a hat and/or anything else. It would've helped her in such a dark time in her final days. Couldn't get them to send anything.

I understand, but if you felt so strong about it, why didn't you get a hat and take it to her ?

She lived near the West Coast and it would've meant more if it hadn't come directly from me. Sounds strange, but anyhow she ended up passing sooner than expected so I didn't have time to even mail a hat anonymously to her.. When we got word she was hospitalized, myself and another family member left to get there in a hurry. She passed while awaiting our arrival. Hit me like a ton of bricks, emotionally.

Sorry for hyjacking the thread.
