Case-in-point, because of their belief system, Mennonites up here pay for their own healthcare, and (because I have a few around as neighbors) sometimes I catch wind of what a particular operation cost them. Neighbor kid had appendicitis 3 years ago, he was in for surgery and out the next day (his choice - not doctors recommendation), price tag was $3000. I've never heard what an appendix surgery would cost in the US, but I would guess much more. |
