I never wear them to the farm as there is to much noise there. My problem is high pitched noises and people who are soft spoken. I especially like them when I go to a meeting of people where different people speak as I was missing to much without them. Maybe it's ok to not be able to hear your wife sometimes, that way if you forget something you can blame it on your hearing!
