Subject: RE: heating a shed

North of London
As others posted a number of different types like that were tried, mostly back in the seventies.
Do not think many have been used lately but do know of a barn for caged layers built abut 5-10 years ago that put black cladding on the south side with a clear cover so incoming air would pick up some heat.

If you do it I think you would want to recycle your air in the shop through the heating are rather than draw fresh cold air all the time.
Perhaps a method to mix some fresh air would be good.

Back up heat would be necessary if you expected to use it on days with too much cloud or mate the short sun times in Nov-Dec but any solar gain would be free after capital cost of installation.
