Yes, I think it was 100% price as far as why they weren't (and aren't) buying US cotton. since it looks like Mike's chart shows they were never buying US cotton. At least not at the time the chart was made which was when they made the commitment to go to 100% BCI.

The BCI stuff was meant to show they had the best interests of people in mind where they were already buying their cotton. I think it was about not appearing to take advantage of the poor people in other countries. Remember that some major corporations (including the Apples and NIkes, etc of the world) have been accused of oppressing the poor over the years. BCI is just another PR program meant to counteract that. I just hope it really is doing good for those people.
