| To my knowledge there is no way of getting rid of the distance the is displayed on the lower right side of the screen - It may display other things as well but as I remember it this will display the length of a feature line such as a GIS line or any other line feature.
If you are looking to change the displayed txt on the left this is done by pressing the "menu" button and going to "information screens" in the "view" dropdown. There should be 3 active softkeys at the bottom with the far right one being the "Plan view", press this one and then add or subtract the display text that you want on the left side of your plan view screen.
