| I put my spare rebuilt alternator on the 4440 tonight and within minutes it got hot as a firecracker. I knew something might be up when the gauge would only read close to 12 o'clock. I did not have my multimeter so I couldn't check the voltage. Only took minimal tools to swap out the unit. I will check that tomorrow.
Anyone have any ideas as to what would cause a "just rebuilt" alternator to run hot to the touch?
BTW, this will be the third alternator in less than 200 hrs. The others were ones I robbed off old junk GM vehicles. The one I installed tonight was the original alternator off the tractor.
