I tried that once, on some low-quality grass hay. Never was sure if it paid off or not. I tried spraying it in a diluted mix over the windrow the evening before I baled. The bales smelled of molasses for a while afterward, but it seems to degrade quickly. The livestock didn't react any differently when fed.
