Southeast Wyoming | potentialag - 12/22/2015 07:57 The common understanding has been that farmers are able to use a drone as part of their own farm, covering their own acres. That being said, while you use it for your own business, you are not using it commercially (for hire) so the registration process shouldnt affect that. Also, the registration process registers you the "pilot" as a drone owner, not the drone itself.
Since that is all simply opinion, one clarification probably should be made.

Q44. If I let someone borrow my drone do I have to give them the Certificate of Registration? A. Yes, anyone who operates your drone must have the Certificate of Aircraft Registration in their possession. You can give them a paper copy, email it to them, or they can show it electronically from the registration website. So, no the pilot is not registered, only the owner; the pilot is required to have the owner's certificate of registration in possession when flying the drone.
