SWSD | Yeah I did get some mindless gratification out of "no till tillage". But it seems that even no tillers have some times when a little prep might be in order with some iron in the ground.
In my case we had a crazy wet spring that kept us out of a big portion of fields, which led to a weed mass like no other. So finally got it burnt down, etc., but it is still a thick mat that I am a little worried about planting into. I do have row cleaners and good down pressure (JD 1720 planter), but I still would like to smash it all down and grind it up a bit. On top of that we have some nasty ruts from our wet ground that again I would prefer not bouncing over and hoping the seed somehow finds the earth.
So, that's the deal, but I admit to just perhaps needing to buy in a little further on the no till world - it does make a lot of sense to me. | |
