Nw Iowa | Going on day 20 with with no rain over a tenth. Small area in nw iowa, rain all around me. Thank god for subsoil moisture and 90 degree or less temps. 700 acres of corn going to tassle this week, If I miss the chances this thursday and friday I wonder how much yield I'll start losing? It's really frustrating when everyone else gets blessed with water and i'm begging for a half inch. All the light spots and sand spots are gone...but i can live with that. Anyone have any kind of guide to go by if I go out and dig for moisture....how deep should i dig and whats a good way to tell how much moisture is there and how long i can expect to go with it???? thanks | |
