Mid Michigan | Three of my retired high school teachers live within 2 miles of me. They all have great retired lives and are young enough to enjoy a very dignified retirement with GREAT benefits. They all have beautiful brand new houses and great health insurance and pensions coming in. I'm very happy for them as everybody should be able to enjoy a young healthy retirement and not work themselves to death for 50 years of hard labor. These guys were all good teachers and very good to me when I was in school and still are today. I made the mistake of going to a large factory to work 33 years ago that cut all of our retirement benefits by 100%. Zilch, zip, nothing. So yes I'd say the teachers end up having it pretty good if they stick it out for their 30 years and retire. Good for them. Somebody better have some money around here. I guess it might as well be the retired school teachers, state and county workers, and UAW GM retirees. | |
