Western Ohio
Working to fence some stalks so I can graze on a rented farm today. While scouting the plan yesterday I stumbled across some (gasp) straight Osage Orange Trees. This grove of Osage was mixed in some older hard woods. This farm I get the sole pleasure of keeping up the fences my self so I decide I would try and make me some end assembly pieces for the fence work I need to do next year.

So here are my questions now that they are cut must they cure before I use them?

Should the bark come off or can I just plant them as is?

Did I cut in the right time of the year or was this the wrong time?

Durn those little thorns were not much fun at all. Clean up was easy just let the limbs lay where they fell.
